Naughty Charlie!!

Well Charlies has been up to her old tricks again... apart from playing with red back spiders, huntsman spiders, drop-tail lizards and of course the fruit rats Charlie decided to leave a lovely little present for me in my hallway, study and laundry for me when I got home after work last Friday night...

My study... it doesn't look as bad as it actually was... I later found some blood behind the door and on the wall!

The laundry....

I don't remember when the last time I smacked her was... if at all! Max was the naughty one that use to get into mischief... the night he died he kindly left a dead bird on my back doorstep! Charlie knew that I wasn't happy with her... she went off and became all sooky...

After inviting a friend over to see the damage (one of my cat-sitters) I got into the cleaning up the blood before heading off to my work Christmas dinner. Saturday morning I got into steam cleaning the mess with a cleaner I hired from the local supermarket and ended up doing my whole house... 8 hours later I had clean carpets! It still surprises me how much dirt was in the carpets and I'm sure if I was to go over them again I'd get out more!

Now I'm not going to harp on about the weather again as I'm sure that's not what anyone wants to read! I will say however that since I've got back from my holiday I have experienced summer, spring, winter and then summer again! Its crazy! My garden is still going well though despite the water restrictions due to the drought. What turned out to be laziness has turned out to save my garden... I would only water my garden once a week as I was too lazy to do it more often (even though it was a drip system!) but it now turns out that I did the right thing and have probably given my garden a chance to survive once the next level of restrictions come into play!

Well I'm off to enjoy a few more Peanut Butter Kisses that I brought back from the USA... yummy!

GO HILLARY GO…

I'm not a big fan of American Politics but Hillary Clinton retaining her seat in the US Senate for me brings a smile to my face... In my living memory the only US President I have liked is Bill Clinton and I admired more the way Hillary stood by her man... remarkable really given all the stories of couples splitting for much less than the stuff-ups Bill made.

While in the Capitol building in Washington DC for a tour a few friends & I snuck away and went upstairs to get the photo below. I have the strange smile on my face as I don't think we were ment to be taking photos where we were and we wanted to get the photo and get out of there...

I would have loved to have met Hillary but tour we were about to go on was being put on by Senator Allen, a Republican. Hillary is a Democrat and well... I don't think they like each other! I was very appreciative of being able to get a guided tour as well so I didn't want to rock the boat.

Its interesting that as I write this there is a possibility that Senator Allen, one of two Senators for Virginia, is fighting for his political life. 6 months ago he was 50/50 of being the man that would represent the Republicans for President (from what I read in the Washington Times today) and there is talk that Hillary will be in the running as the Democrats candidate for the next USA President. Ya got to love politics.... NOT!

The flying Roo....

Its been a little while since my last post and when I received a letter in the mail today I thought I should let you know what was in it...

I mentioned a few blogs ago that I didn't have that good a flight back from Las Angeles with the Qantas flight I was on. I was so disapointed that I decided to write a letter to them and explained why I was disapointed.

This is the plane that I was on from LA to Melbourne... Wunala Dreaming. If you like plane pics make sure you take a look at airliners.net

When I opened the letter I found that Qantas had given me a $200 gift voucher towards a flight in the next 12 months. I was pleaseently surprised and will make the most of it to try and get my silver membership.

I've now been back in Adelaide for 3 weeks and am still finding it hard to settle down and get back into a rythem. I'm also finding it hard to get back into regular sleep patterns... I'll go to bed at 11am and not fall asleep till 1.30am! I think I need to take up walking down at the beach again.

I have now sorted through my photos and have 348 that I have set up to give people an idea of the trip... 348 may should like a lot but I have over 1000 pics and most of them are pretty good. Next stop the video... its proving harder than I though to get into the editing of the video... I think it brings back too many good memories and watching it makes me want to get escape the real world again...

Charlie is currently curled up in my arms asking for some attention so I had better go... will write more soon...
