Under 2 months to go....

Hi All...

It's not long to go now till my trip... only 60 days to go (34 more days in the office!). My trip is now all paid up and the only unplanned thing (apart from what to do while lazing around) is where to stay in Las Vegas. Any suggestions welcome :-). I have some friends that have been/are going to Vegas so I'll get their suggestions but currently I'm thinking of Circus Circus.

So far I have to give a big pat on the back of my Agent at Flight Centre for saving me $450 by taking me through Helsinki rather than London. I now get to spend I just hope everything goes well... the fact that I will be away for 7 weeks and flying on 14 different flights makes me think something will happen sometime.... I'll keep you posted!

No pictures or funny videos tonight... No one posted any comments about the video below so I take it I am the only one with a warped sense of humour.

Take Care

Oh my....

Hi All (well hi all two of you!)...

I know this is "off topic" but seeing as my trip is a few months away I need to fill in some gaps... I was just searching for some aviation videos on youtube.com and came across this video... Its a good laugh!!

For those that don't share my warped sense of humour, the above video is not serious but in fact made by comedian Christa Flanagan. I laugh every time I see it...

How Cold...

Well in my last post you heard me complaining about the cold… well this is what I found when I walked outside this morning at 8.15am. It was the 3rd Coldest morning on record here in Adelaide so I do have reason for my complaints :-p

If you look close enough at the second picture below you will see some small holes just in from the edge of the concrete border. No they aren’t from Max & Charlie adding “compost”, they are from some so and so who STOLE four of my Nandinas... Not happy Jan!

Ciao for now...

Why....

I’m back… It’s taken me a bit longer to get back to blogging than I anticipated. The long week I expected was in fact long. I did however end up having a 3 ½ day long weekend but still feel tired and drained. Perhaps staying up to watch the Aussies win at the world cup didn’t help! I am sooooo looking forward to my holiday.

Well back to the topic at hand…. Why am I going… well there are three main reasons. The first reason is to have a much needed break from work. It’s been a few years since my last extended break (ie more than a week) from work. I’ll be spending the first few days doing a bit of shopping for some “toys” in Hong Kong for me and my nephews (and niece… although I don’t think at 9 mths old she would appreciate a PSP or Gameboy!). After Hong Kong I’ll be spending 7 days lazing on a beach or by the Hotel Pool in Thailand. As I type it is currently 1 degree outside my window (although feels lower!), what a pleasant contrast sitting on a tropical beach will be… it’s a pity my trip doesn’t start this weekend so I can escape this cold spell!

The other two reasons for my trip are to catch up with some good friends that live O.S. The first friend I’ll be visiting lives in Germany. I first met Anja when she was in Adelaide as an exchange student a few years back and first visited her and her family back in 1999. She has a lovely family who were very generous to me, needless to say I had a great time and hopefully one day they will be able to have them visit me here in Adelaide.

The third reason was originally the only reason for my trip, to attend Joel’s wedding. I’ve know Joel and his family for over 18 years now and have watch him grow up from a boy going through my mums shed asking 101 questions to taking a step of faith and moving to the USA to pursue a career in something he loves, music. He just so happened to meet Holly, fell in love and now have a whole heap of people coming over to Washington DC for their wedding at the end of September. I am really looking forward to spending time with Joel & Holly as well as his family and friends. I think I’m looking forward to my time there more than lazing on the beach (although at the moment my fingers and feet would disagree as they would love to defrost!).

Well that’s my essay for tonight… well done if you have made it this far… Next time a bit more about where....

Take Care
Al

Welcome....

Well this is my first post... It was suggested to me by fellow Blogger Bexxie that I should set up a blog for my big trip later on this year. That way my friends (and fellow bloggers) can track my travels and I wouldn't need to repeat myself... well here it is.

I'm off "Around the World" for the period of 7 weeks leaving on the 20th August. I'm really looking forward to an escape from every day life and a well earn't break.

Well I'll leave it at that for now… I’ll give you a brief history about my planing, why I’m going and also where I'm going later… but for now I need to get to bed as I have an early start to a long week tomorow.

Ciao
